Connection Problems

Having trouble connecting your social accounts? This guide covers platform-specific issues and solutions.

Before platform-specific fixes, try these:

  1. Clear browser cache and cookies
  2. Try incognito/private mode
  3. Disable browser extensions (especially ad blockers)
  4. Use a different browser
  5. Check the platform isn’t having an outage

Personal Instagram accounts can’t be connected for auto-publishing. Convert to Business or Creator:

  1. Open Instagram app
  2. Go to SettingsAccount
  3. Tap “Switch to professional account”
  4. Choose Business or Creator
  5. Reconnect in Postiv.io

Instagram API requires a linked Facebook Page:

  1. Create a Facebook Page (if you don’t have one)
  2. In Instagram app: SettingsAccountLinked Accounts
  3. Connect to Facebook
  4. Select your Page
  5. Reconnect in Postiv.io

When connecting, make sure to accept ALL permission requests. If you declined any:

  1. Go to Facebook Settings → Apps and Websites
  2. Find Postiv.io → Edit permissions
  3. Grant all requested access
  4. Reconnect in Postiv.io
  • Check token hasn’t expired (reconnect)
  • Verify Page is still linked to Instagram
  • Ensure you still have admin access to the Page

”Access Denied” or “Permission Error”

Section titled “”Access Denied” or “Permission Error””

The platform blocked access. Solutions:

  1. Review and accept all permissions during connection
  2. Check you’re logged into the correct account
  3. Clear browser data and try again
  4. Disable VPN if using one

”Invalid Token” or “Token Expired”

Section titled “”Invalid Token” or “Token Expired””

Your authorization has expired:

  1. Go to SettingsConnected Accounts
  2. Find the affected account
  3. Click “Reconnect”
  4. Complete authorization again

”Account Suspended” or “Restricted”

Section titled “”Account Suspended” or “Restricted””

The social platform has restricted your account:

  1. Log into the platform directly
  2. Check for any notices or warnings
  3. Complete any verification required
  4. Once resolved, reconnect in Postiv.io

Corporate firewalls may block OAuth connections:

  • Try from a different network (mobile data)
  • Ask IT to whitelist Postiv.io domains
  • Use a personal device on personal network

This is usually a temporary glitch:

  1. Refresh the page
  2. Clear browser cache
  3. Try incognito mode
  4. Try a different browser

Once connected successfully:

  1. Test with a single post before scheduling many
  2. Check the Activity Log for any warnings
  3. Set up notifications for connection issues
  4. Save backup codes if 2FA is enabled on platforms
